Nature Center of Cape May
Explore all the amazing things around the cape... this is a children’s wonderland!
WHERE IS IT? Near the US Coast Guard base.
WHY SHOULD I GO? The Nature Center offers hands-on programs for people of all ages from a serene, eco-friendly campus overlooking Cape May Harbor. The Center’s aquariums, exhibit areas, nature store, bee hives, and pollinator gardens are must-see stops. Summertime brings children’s day camps, Monday through Friday from late June through August, for ages 5-15. It’s designed with summer visitors in mind — campers may attend just one week or all summer. Family programs include their famous Harbor Safari, where participants catch fish, jellies, crabs and more right out of the harbor.
The Nature Center doesn’t stop exploring when the sun sets! Join them for evening family programs, including moonlight beach strolls in search of bats, ghost crabs and other nocturnal creatures. Fall is the time to enjoy the change of seasons and the panoramic view from the welcome center’s three-story observation tower. It’s also the perfect time to witness the incredible migrations made by birds and insects through Cape May. Don’t miss the 2026 Monarch Festival on Sunday, September 27 from 10am-4pm!
