El Pueblo Taqueria

Where Is It? They made their name at Cape Plaza center on Bayshore Road, a short drive north of Cape May. But last summer they expanded to a second location on the Cape May beachfront, near Convention Hall.

Why Should I Go? So maybe you’ve tasted a lot of Mexican food... but how often have you eaten genuine Mexican food? There’s a world of difference. Don’t take our word for it. Your hosts Ruben and Dalila Nuñez-Martinez have conjured up a smorgasbord of fantastic Mexican food that’s attracted a serious fan base in the three years since they opened.

This is what you call an authentic, affordable Mexican dining experience, prepared with only the freshest ingredients and a whole lot of TLC — from their family to yours.

Ruben cut his teeth working at popular Cape May restaurants, learning to cook from his late father Oscar and mother Lucia, whose magic is still woven into many of the dishes at El Pueblo. “We couldn’t do it without her,” says Ruben. Those years in the business and his Mexican heritage combine for a meal you won’t want to miss.

Insider Tip: This year, they’ve added some seriously good seafood options, including ceviche and fish of the day.
