Fins

Where Is It? Carpenter’s and Decatur, just off the mall in Cape May.

Why Should I Go? Fins brings a welcome jolt of color and energy to the downtown restaurant scene. It’s one of the city’s go-to spots, whether you are looking for a fun lunch spot (stopping there for a bite after a shopping stroll through the mall is now a rite of passage) or a place to hang your hat for the evening.

It’s a bar you can’t miss — the 1.5-inch rippled glass top is illuminated with edge-lit LED. Behind it sits a 600-gallon saltwater fish tank. A new Cape May landmark.

That glass-top bar is a favorite place to order dinner (as well as sample from a superb drinks list) and so, too, is the outside patio. There are also some nifty stainless steel booths along one of the walls.

Fins is open year-round... during the cooler months, enjoy lunch, dinner or a cocktail in front of the cozy fireplace.

So, what about the food? Thankfully, that’s up to the same standard. Favorite entrées include Cape May Seafood Chowder, a tasty reminder that you’re in one of the busiest commercial fishing ports in America. There is also a daily selection on the Today’s Catch lineup, from Scottish salmon to mako loin. For some seriously good food from the land, try the 12 oz pork chop with an amazing sweet potato purée.

Insider Tip: Try to snag a seat at the bar in front of the saltwater aquarium. Remember to check the Fins website for specials and entertainment lineups.
