Harpoons on the Bay

Where Is It? On the bay in North Cape May.

Why Should I Go? You won’t need a harpoon — the sea life comes to you. Some of it will be nicely prepared on the plate, while some of it, like the dolphins, will be swimming across the road. While you watch for Flipper under a sinking pink sun, we recommend sampling from the restaurant’s menu of beach cuisine or sipping on a handcrafted frozen drink.

One reviewer called this hotspot “a Florida Keys place that must have washed north in a hurricane.” And no Key West locale would be complete without the kind of mellow entertainment (live music nightly during the season) that makes you want to breathe deep, kick off your shoes and order another round.

Four years into their ownership, Brady and Jeff modernized this classic beach shack while maintaining its laid-back vibe for the 2021 season. Chef Lisa and her team continue to mix it up with new Cuban-inspired dishes.

Kids AND adults love it here. There’s a large sandpit with games like cornhole and ring and hook. Happy hour is Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 3 to 6, featuring $3 domestic drafts, $5 house wines and $5 house cocktails.

Insider Tip: New for 2023 is the Bayfront Raw Bar. Enjoy your raw bar favorites, along with some new twists on the classics.
