Buttonwood Boutique Hotel & Estate

Effortlessly classy, endlessly comfortable... and located minutes away from all that Cape May has to offer.

WHERE IS IT? Nestled on Broadway, adjoining Wilbraham Park, minutes away from all the stores, restaurants and beaches!

WHY SHOULD I GO? There are worse ways to fall for Cape May than watching Congress Hall swap its pumpkins for Christmas sparkle. For longtime friends and Mullica Hill neighbors Anthony and Dawn Susco and Matt and Andee Bramblett, that November school-break visit was the start of something. Their six children were captivated. The grown-ups were, too.

Soon came the traditions: beach days, dolphin spotting, walks through town, restaurant discoveries — and ice cream. Always ice cream. Then came a rather bigger commitment: buying the Buttonwood Estate. Later, the opportunity to purchase the Buttonwood Boutique Hotel brought the two properties together. Today, guests can choose between a cozy hotel getaway and the six-bedroom Estate, which comfortably sleeps up to 11.

The hotel offers nine accommodations: seven in the main building and two cottage suites. The feeling is relaxed and refreshingly uncomplicated. Arrive any time after 3pm, let yourself in with your check-in code and settle into your Cape May routine. There’s a shared living room, kitchen and sunroom, plus a coffee and snack bar available around the clock.

Each guest room comes with a mini-fridge, microwave, smart TV, beach bag, beach towels and complimentary Prosecco. That last detail should help with the settling in.

For the Suscos and Brambletts, hospitality starts with knowing what makes a family trip work: comfortable spaces, thoughtful touches — and time to enjoy the place you came to see. They’ve spent years making their own Cape May memories. Now, at both Buttonwood properties, they’re delighted to help guests begin a few traditions of their own.

INSIDER TIP Each room includes beach tags and a Steger Beach Services keycard. Present it at the stand at Broadway Beach for two beach chairs and an umbrella, with setup and takedown included. Result: Less hauling, more wave-watching.
